Winter Wedding - Stowe House, Buckinghamshire

Wednesday, 13 February 2013

Looking for ideas for your winter wedding? Picture the Hollywood romance of grooms-in-tails, brides and bridesmaids in long silk dresses or a shimmery Narnia feel with lots of sparkle, faux fur wraps and icy diamond jewellery. Or a festive theme laced with rich reds, gold and greenery. There is always the draw of having a horse and cart for transport. The theme should extend to your venue too. Candles, pine cones and poinsettia table decorations will provide an extra wintry feel. Stock up on small white string lights, drape them over doorways, arches and weave them into table centre pieces. When thinking about the little details, remember to add warm colours to complement the season. Bright and vibrant flowers will stand out against wintry backdrops. For this shoot, the bride’s bouquet and groom’s buttonhole were designed by the very talented Rebecca at Gingerlily Flowers and the vintage headpiece provided by Euphoria Couture.

The cold temperatures should come as no surprise in the winter months, so factor in the big chill. There are plenty of stylish ways to look stunning and stay warm. Brides and bridesmaids can accessorise with a shrug or coat. To keep toes warm and dry, brides can pop on a pair of boots for the outdoor shoots knowing that boots will be hidden under long dresses and not seen in photographs, unless boots are an intentional feature, then be sure to wear them with pride!
